Before any note is played, before any word is sung, and before any hand is raised, worship starts with humility as we focus on God. We are little and he is big. Really big. God has beautifully revealed himself so that no one has any excuse. “Since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood thruogh what has been made.” (Romans 1:20)
Some have said that God is a creation of man’s mind. The truth is that God is so far beyond what our minds could ever create that this is not possible. He spoke and all things were created. No one can create the intricacies of life like God. Seeing the components of just one cell of our bodies is enough to humble anyone. God only has to speak and things happen.
God is far beyond the limitation of time. He knew you and I before we ever became a gleam in our parents’ eyes (Psalm 139:13-16) He knows us intimately. No one can claim that, including ourselves.
God is so holy and just, he had a plan of salvation ready before we even chose to turn our backs on him. What patience. What love. What a God! When we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The enormity of this truth is staggering. Jesus Christ gave himself a holy sacrifice for Caesar, Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, you, and me.
Isaiah wrote, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been decared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He (God Almighty) who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He it is who reduces rulers to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth meaningless” (Isaiah 40:21-23) He goes on to say, “lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars” (Isaiah 40:26)
Square One in worship is humbling ourselves before our Creator. The only reason that anyone would not worship with their whole being is that they have not “lifted their eyes” to see who God is. We appreciate your Comments
