Nothing is hidden from God. His knowledge of every detail of anything and everything is complete. The Psalmist said, “behold, O Lord, You know it all. (Psalm 139:4) Later in the chapter, David makes an invitation. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.” (Psalm 139:23, 24)
God doesn’t need an invitation to look into our lives, but we desperately need him to. He already sees, but we can’t always see. His knowledge of every part of our lives is remarkable because he saw it all. And he can reveal to us the things that he sees so that we can confess, repent, be cleansed, and be healed.
God sees all that happens to us that shapes the way we think, how we act, and how we react. Lest we think that he is just looking through a cloud from a lofty position like a disconnected monarch, we are assured that God sees with an eye to help. (Psalm 46:1)
One important thing that God is looking for is a willingness to acknowledge him and the salvation he freely offers. David also wrote, “the Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God”. (Psalm 14:2)
God is not ignorant of our troubles. He knows all about each one and he is patiently waiting to love us through it all. It is up to all mankind to join David in his cry to God in Psalm 139:23, 24.
If we recognize just who Creator God is and his great compassion for us, we won’t try to hide and then blame him for the feelings of abandonment. We will cry out to him, “O God, see what happened to me! Help!”
God’s eyes see deep into our lives. Sometimes we can hide sin from others, but we can never hide from him. John the Revelator said, “his eyes were like a flame of fire”. (Revelation 1:14) He does not condone sin in us. His eyes burn with righteous anger. We are wise to not follow the lead of Adam and Eve, but to confess what he has already seen.
The greatness of God to see all, and yet reach out in love, is beyond words. We appreciate your Comments
