Each one of us have cried out for help at one time or another. Sometimes we just need someone to help us with minor assistance. Other times, we are in great need. Life situations can hit all of us with a ferocity that seems insurmountable. “How can I make it through this?” “Somebody help!”
The Psalmist wrote a song that describes the nature of God to help. “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:2) He goes on to say, “He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.” (Psalm 121:3)
Notice that the one who can help is the one who made heaven and earth! I don’t know about you but I am truly excited with this thought. The one who created all that exists is more than able to handle the problem I’m facing! There is no need to fear tests and trials that can overtake us when we settle on the fact that God, the Maker, can fix it all!
Nothing is impossible with God, the Maker of heaven and earth! Just when it seems like the end has come, we can be encouraged to trust that God is able!
Secondly, we can remember that God will not allow our foot to slip. I grew up battling icy sidewalks. Sometimes it was so dangerous, I would walk slowly and deliberately. In a life with many pitfalls and dangers, we are wise to walk slowly and deliberately. God will keep us from falling if we are careful to listen to his cautions.
Finally, God will keep us faithfully and completely. While all of us must sleep, God is not a man that is in need of sleep. He is always and forever aware of my needs and yours.
I Peter 1:5 reminds us that we are protected by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Are God’s people entitled to trial-free lives? Of course not! We all know that there will be times that we will need help. Isn’t it good to know that we know the one who created all things, will keep us from falling, and is always and forever watching over us?
The key is for us to keep our eyes on our Help! We appreciate your Comments
